After the good news the other week this week’s events have left me all worried again. Bellis suddenly ran a temperature and was really quite ill. The German-super-uber-vet was luckily around so he quickly gave her penicillin and something to reduce the fever. He reckoned it was due to her being vaccinated the day before.
But as much as I was grateful for him making her better I could not but question the fact that within 48 hours we had propped her full of vaccine, penicillin and pain killers. Surely not a recommended cocktail during pregnancies?! I know I should trust his judgment, him being German and all, but am I the only one thinking they are getting a bit trigger happy with their injections down that way? Well at least this guy does not drive around in a mobile home full of illegal drugs like the “special” vet we used where I worked abroad, our German’s Audi looks quite normal. And with the debate raging here about children getting all sorts of disabilities after vaccines I am not too hopeful about my little four-legged-wonder’s development at the moment. Not even specially imported super semen will save us then.
Well, when I get a foal with Down syndrome or three ears at least I know we have overdone it. I suppose there is always Paralympics…
